IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Please note that membership subscription renewals for 2012 are due on or before 1 January 2012 and payment can be made by returning your personal cheque with the form provided with your November Newsletter to the Membership Secretary or if you wish you can pay via the secure PayPal web facility which can be accessed on the MEMBERSHIP page by clicking in the banner above. Membership can be for a single year or up to five years in advance and will run January to December. Regardless of the month you joined all subsriptions run for a calendar year from January to December.

 

ONLINE PUBLICATIONS ORDERS

We are pleased to advise that you can now order publications on line from the Cumbria FHS. This is now an on line shop and you can select the publications you require and pay via PayPal immediately, you will get a copy of your order emailed to you and your order will normally be sent within two working days. It is also possible to print out a normal order form if you wish to order by ordinary mail. It is hoped this facility will prove useful. Click Here for the Publications page

ARE YOU JUST STARTING?

Are you just starting your family history research in Cumbria. Why not check out the STARTING PAGE for useful tips, or go to the forum to read what has been going on or post your query. The forum can be joined free of charge by anyone, though Members do get additional access to a Members Area with old Newletters and Members Pedigrees(Family Interests) Most queries will get a response, though please remember the replies do rely on volunteers responding.

CUMBRIA FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY

The Cumbria Family History Society was founded to help members carry out their genealogy researches and our area of interest is the modern county of Cumbria, which is the old counties of Cumberland and Westmorland and a part of Northern Lancashire and North Yorkshire.

The society produces a quarterly Newsletter, which is sent by post to all members in February, May, August, November. Contributions to the Newsletter are always welcome.

The Publishing programme covers a range of Cumbrian Genealogy topics including the 1851 census for the whole county, Memorial Inscriptions, Carlisle Marriage Bonds, Probate and Burial Indexes, Place names, Strays, and a few Parish Registers transcripts.

Quarterly meetings are held in London for members in the South East. Regular weekend and one day conferences are held in Cumbria. See the activities page or the Notice Board for current details.

The Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies, the North West Group of Family History Societies, the Association of Scottish Family History Societies, the Lancashire Parish Register Society, and a founder member of the Friends of Cumbria Archives.

The Society is also a Registered Charity in the United Kingdom, No 518393. To join the Society, just return the Membership form with your subscription fee, annual subscriptions run from January to December each year.
